1/2 cup sesame seeds
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
1 Tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
1 Garlic Clove
Water as needed
This can be done in a blender or food processor
First toast the sesame seeds in a skillet on a medium heat for 7-10 minutes just lightly toasted to release the oils in them then let cool.
t1/2 cup sesame seeds Blender or food Processor and blend till they are a fine paste consistency. Add Oil, Lemon Juice, Salt, 1 garlic clove chopped, and 3 Tablespoons of water continue blending. ( you will need to stop the blender and scrape the sides every so often to keep all ingredient mixing. once everything is blended continue to add water a tablespoon at a time till you reach the consistency you desire.
Can be stored in the refrigerator sealed for 2 weeks.
Tahini makes a great sandwich spread, dip with chips, pitas, fresh veggies, or crackers. It is also one of the ingredients for hummus. Check out my southwest hummus recipe
